Guidance and Resources

Committee Resources

Resources relating to administration of the health and disability ethics committees, and other information relevant to committee members.

Meeting dates

Agendas close at 5pm on the advertised day. Occasionally, where there is good reason, a late application may be accepted at the discretion of the Chairperson and administrator.

Please note that agendas may close prior to the published closing date if more applications are received than can be reviewed at the meeting. If another committee has capacity, researchers may be offered a place on its agenda. If insufficient applications are received, the meeting may be cancelled and researchers offered a place on another committee's agenda. Applications must still submitted to the appropriate regional or Multi-region Committee. Only complete applications, ie with only confirmation of Māori consultation, locality assessment by organisation and SCOTT pending, will be accepted on to an agenda.

US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) registration site

All research that uses funding from the US government must be reviewed by an ethics committee that is registered by the Office for Human Research Protections (OHRP) of the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

Refer to the list of OHRP-registered health and disability committees (ohrp.cit.nih.gov)

How to register

Registering requires the committee Administrator and Chairperson to complete three on-line training modules. Committee members (and any other interested parties) may also complete the modules.

Complete the on-line training modules

The National Co-ordinator of Ethics Committees is responsible for ensuring that all health and disability ethics committees are registered.
